Six stories from Indian consumer, retail and autos this morning, each with the number that decides it.
1. Blinkit is now 79% of Eternal’s revenue
Eternal reported September-quarter revenue of Rs 24,138 crore, up 78%, and a net profit of Rs 125 crore. Blinkit supplied Rs 19,152 crore of that revenue and, for the first time, a positive adjusted EBITDA of Rs 184 crore against a Rs 156 crore loss a year ago. Food delivery, the original business, now contributes Rs 3,396 crore and grew order value 21.5%. Blinkit ended with 2,751 stores after adding 308 in one quarter, and the target was raised to more than 3,500 by March 2027 and about 5,000 by March 2028. A margin of 0.9% of order value is a thin base to fund that build on, which suggests scale is paying for itself but has not yet produced a buffer. (Eternal Q2 FY27 filing, via Entrackr)
2. BKT and Pirelli will make car tyres in India, 50:50
Balkrishna Industries and Pirelli signed agreements today for a 50:50 joint venture to manufacture passenger car radial tyres in India, with capacity shared equally and each partner selling under its own brand. Until the plant exists, BKT will make Pirelli-branded tyres at its Bhuj facility at raw material plus conversion cost, against a minimum annual offtake commitment; Pirelli will provide technical support and testing for BKT’s own car, SUV and two-wheeler tyres. The timing is the tell: incorporation is targeted for December 2030 while the interim deal runs to December 2031, so Pirelli gets Indian manufacturing cost now and the shared plant later. The exclusivity clause, which bars either from a similar India JV with anyone else, likely closes a route other global tyre makers were weighing. (Autocar Professional)
3. Wellbeing Nutrition doubled revenue, and its loss grew faster
The supplements brand reported FY26 revenue of Rs 244 crore against Rs 118 crore, while its net loss widened from Rs 38 crore to Rs 92 crore. About Rs 51 crore of that is ESOP cost, leaving roughly Rs 40 crore of cash loss, and on that basis the operating EBITDA loss narrowed from 22.5% of revenue to 13.4%. Advertising took Rs 109 crore, roughly a third of everything spent. The number that frames it is February’s: USV agreed to buy 79% at a Rs 1,583 crore valuation, about 6.5 times revenue for a business spending Rs 1.39 to earn a rupee. A pharma buyer paying that is likely paying for distribution it can plug the brand into rather than for today’s economics. (Entrackr, from MCA filings)
4. YatriKart will put 1,000 stores where people stop
YatriKart signed a Rs 120 crore partnership with MMG Group to take its Quick Stop format from more than 80 stores across eight cities to 1,000 over five years, starting with 100 in Delhi NCR. The stores sit at petrol pumps, highways, hospitals, corporate parks and bus stands, selling coffee, food, water and the things travellers forget. The structure is the interesting part: under a Franchise Invested, Company Operated model, MMG funds store infrastructure and capex while YatriKart keeps operations, technology, supply chain and staffing. Conventional franchising does the opposite. For a format where execution is the whole product, that split perhaps makes more sense. (Business Standard)
5. Mygate is merging with the ad screens inside its own societies
Mygate and Adonmo filed to merge yesterday, with Adonmo ceasing to exist as a separate company. Eternal is swapping its entire Adonmo holding for about 4.4% of the merged entity on a fully diluted basis, a stake currently valued at Rs 156 crore against the Rs 112 crore it invested in January 2022. Mygate’s turnover has gone from Rs 96 crore in FY24 to Rs 171 crore in FY25 to Rs 229 crore in FY26. The two businesses occupy the same physical space with opposite economics: Mygate charges societies for software, Adonmo charges advertisers for attention inside those societies. Merging them turns a resident’s cost line into the platform’s revenue line. The deal still needs definitive agreements. (Entrackr, from the regulatory filing)
